Miguel and Argentina Mencia were a very well-known and cherished couple in Salcedo, Dominican Republic, who did not hesitate in helping their neighbors and their community. It was no surprise when the people and cars could not fit in the street and funeral home the time of their death.
One of the Mencia's charitable donations included a piece of land in the community of El Jobo in Salcedo for building the first and currently only elementary School in that area. This was a big advancement for El Jobo, given that many of the adults and children of Salcedo are still illiterate. This is the school that motivated us to create the Mencia Foundation. Even though the school is free, many do not attend because they either do not have suitable clothes or school supplies or money to buy books. This is where we come in.

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces
The Mencia Foundation is dedicated to giving to underprivileged schools and communities the resources to attend school. We provide clothes, shoes, uniforms, school supplies, and more to students of low-income. And, we're just getting started!
The Dominican Republic is one of the poorest countries in the Americas. One of the challenges is their undeveloped towns and rural areas. For families living in these communities, transportation is very difficult and traveling to the nearest town/city is challenging and buying their necessities is a burden. Additionally, most children walk to schools, and when it rains, they cannot get to school at all.
Our goal is to expand our mission to include more schools, more individuals, and also to create a scholarship fund. But, we cannot do this by ourselves. We need your help!

The Mencia Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was created to continue the efforts of Miguel and Argentina Mencia in supporting and encouraging education by providing essential resources to those in need. We help underprivileged children and youth of the Dominican Republic and other Latin American countries by helping them attain an education and build a better future.
